I agree with almost everything you said, including the price for winning CCL, except for the point about it not being a good idea to do something right now. We’ve heard over and over that the best players are available mid-season, and over and over we’ve waited til mid season to make signings because of that. Also, combined with the fact there’s often a long acclimation period to MLS, doing nothing now sets us up for another year of waiting to be an interesting team to watch. My expectation is that we only replace 1/2 to 2/3 in the off-season, several of which come in at the very end of pre-season, then we hear how much the team needs to gel for 6 months and then finally get the last pieces a year from now and then those pieces need time and a pre-season to gel. Doing something now gets at least one major, team-leading piece ahead of all of that.
We are 4w-9l-5d in our past 18 games. 6 of those games the opponent was down a man, which accounts for all of our wins and one of the draws. For maybe 10% of that did we look like a competitive, league-dangerous team. We scored 15 goals for 0.8 g/90. That’s bad.
Not to be pedantic, this is not quite true. the Sounders are 5-9-4 in their last 18 and two of those wins came when they weren't up a man (San Diego and Red Bulls). It is not good, but it's also not quite as bad as presented.
I stopped one before the San Diego game at 18 by my count. Why would you want to count beating a USL team :), but you’re right I misattributed the Red Bulls red card!

Jesus christ, you guys, too?
Are we 0-24-0 with a -400 GD? What the hell am I missing?

I get that we've had some poor results, but I don't see it as a lack of heart from the players. Maybe I'm alone in this.
